Summary This article questions how much attention journalists pay to the concept of emotional literacy as it relates to their work.   Would a closer evaluation of the emotional dimension of reporting, particularly the reporting of trauma, reveal a significant contribution to the collective 'emotional public sphere'?   The article is based upon the result of a study conducted by the Media School at Bournemouth University in 2006-2008.
