Summary

The author provides a literature review on child sexual abuse and trauma-focused cognitive behavioural therapy. The article discusses how families that engage in counselling as a means to address child sexual abuse benefit from therapy practices that are evidence based and aimed at meeting a child's developmental needs. A case study is provided to discuss trauma-focused cognitive behavioural therapy with specific focus on trauma narrative intervention and its ability to efficiently include the family unit within the therapy process in order to cultivate healing.
