About Us


The Victims of Crime Clearinghouse is an initiative of Victims Services, part of the NSW Department of Justice. We provide support for victims of crime throughout their involvement with the criminal justice system. The Victims of Crime Clearinghouse will contribute to our work by:

In addition to the Victims of Crime Clearinghouse, Victims Services provides support services to victims of crime.

Victims Services provides a number of services for victims of crime in New South Wales including:

  • The Victims Access Line. Victims of crime in NSW can phone 1800 633 063 for information about their rights as a victim of crime, how to access counselling and compensation and assistance with completing victim impact statements. The referral and support officers can provide confidential emotional support and crisis counselling, help in identifying needs, and referrals to other groups and services that may assist in recovery
  • The Approved Counselling Scheme provides free face to face counselling to victims of violent crimes that have happened in NSW
  • Financial support for eligible victims is available through the Victims Support Scheme
  • Promoting and overseeing the implementation of the Charter of Victims Rights ( Victims Rights and Support Act 2013)
  • Providing information for victims of crime through a number of publications and the Victims Services website.
