Summary The article discusses the role of social work practices within restorative justice and how it is not fully acknowledged in regards to victim-offender mediations.   The study is based on findings of two focus groups conducted with mediators of juvenile mediation and adult mediation. The aim of the focus groups was to gain insight and compare how mediators of both juveniles and adults, view their role and to what extent do they refer to the individual (method of mediating) and structural (level of engagement in the restorative debate) dimensions of social work practices. Suggestions to further incorporate a high level of social work practices and research are made.
